This year has been tough for a number or reasons. With a very weak snowpack accessing the alpine has been difficult. But finally, with a historic storm, our snowpack turned the corner very quickly. Within a couple of days the possibility of getting to bigger terrain became a reality. So on March 7th we decided to head out to Hogum to see what was going on. Accidentally ended up in Disneyland.

It is a nice long walk, over 5 miles. We crossed some ridges, skinned on bad snow, and reveled in the magnitude of the mountains.

Once crossing into the the final drainage we entered Disneyland. Very few people get back here.

As we came in to Upper Hogum, we where blown away. It was special knowing no one had been here this year.

Although we came to the biggest lines in the Wasatch, we continued with out goal to ski some mini golf lines. Although we didn't get pow or puckered, skiing was still fun.

After a couple runs of mini gold we headed out. A long fun exit followed by a bushwhack from hell. The end was really hard on the leg elbows.

It was a great day checking out the farthest depths of the Wasatch. Now time to go back and do some big boy skiing back there.
